Description of different nets:
1.   Gono ber jal
It is a rectangular net having large wall of netting and has two boarder line. The upper boarder line contains floats at suitable intervals. Floats may be made of bamboo, sola, polystyrene or wood. The ground rope may (for large size net) or may not (for smaller size net) have sinkers (usually broken bricks or metals). Lower boarder lines are unite to a rope. These nets are extensively used for encircling by stretching the net in the water body for catching fish, manipulating the head and ground ropes. The nets are prepared in small pieces, which are joined together at the time of operation according to the necessity; sometimes it is as long as 250 m andlocally called “Jagat Ber Jal”. This net is commonly used in river as well as other extensive water areas like beels haors etc. Usually large types of fish are caught by this gear.

2.   Laitta Jal
This another type of seine net, rectangular shaped with floats attached at suitable intervals to head ropes. Floats may be bamboo, sola, polystyrene or wood. The ground rope has got no sinkers. A number of pieces are joined together to form a big net and length, depth of the net vary with the stretches of water to be netted and is laid by boats. The boats move apart paying the net and thus enclosing a water area. When the boats come closer to each other, the ground rope is hauled resulting in the formation of a pocket containing the imprisoned fish. All types of fish are caught by this gear depending on the mesh size. It is also regarded as a destructive fishing gear due to small mesh.
